Meet Our Pastor

Rev. David Moreno and wife Ginny

 

New Hope United Methodist and Southall Memorial United Methodist churches welcomed Rev. David J. Moreno and his wife Ginny to the charge on Sunday, July 3, 2022. 

Pastor Dave is originally from San Antonio, where most of his family still lives.  He graduated from The University of Texas Pan American with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, and then completed a master’s degree in Divinity at Southern Methodist University, Perkins School of Theology.  In 2002, Pastor Dave was ordained Elder in the Rio Grande Conference.  He was director of United Methodist Campus Ministry Rio Grande Valley for a total of 24 years, and pastor at First United Methodist in Palacios, Texas for 4 years.  He has extensive experience in youth and young adult ministry and served as youth director at several different United Methodist churches.  Pastor Dave’s wife, Ginny, taught middle school for 32 years and retired in 2018.  She has enjoyed repurposing her skills to help produce the church bulletin.   Their daughter, Nickie, is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary, and is the Associate Director of Learning Ministries for the Virginia Annual Conference.  Nickie and her husband, Christian Howard, live in Richmond and have three children, Sofia, Tayanna and Isaiah.
